Effective Tues., December 11, 2007, Lakeshore Library is located in a fully-functioning temporary library facility located in the parking lot of the Lakeshore location at 1000 West Esplanade, Metairie, made possible by SOLINET’s Gulf Coast Libraries Project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The original April 1995 state-of-the-art facility was designed by Architect Bob Bennett who designed the branch with the lake in mind as can be seen by the raw concrete columns and unfinished beams. The art hangings designed by Douglas MacCash were one of the outstanding features of this branch.
