red arrow policy

The Library’s Ultimaker 2+ and 3D Cube printers are available to the public to make three-dimensional objects in PLA plastic filament using a design that is uploaded from a digital computer file. Printing will be executed by library staff only. Cardholders must submit print job online with the 3D printing staff prior to printing.

Please read all of the policies below. Polices are subject to change at any time.

  • This service is only available to Jefferson Parish Library Cardholders in good standing.
  • Only one job can be submitted at a time.
  • Prints are handed over AS IS. If your print requires rafts or support structures, you will be responsible for removing these.
  • The cost of 3D printing is $0.05 per gram of material (filament) used, plus a $1 surcharge applied to each printed model. Payments must be paid in cash when you pick up your print.
  • Grams of a model will be determined prior to printing using the software 3DPrinterOS.
  • Available colors may change without notice, and we cannot guarantee that your selected color will be available. In the event that your chosen color is out of stock, we will use the most similar color available.
  • The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request.
  • Only designated Library staff will have hands-on access to the 3D printer.
  • We will do our best to complete your model within 7-10 business days, but if demand for the printer is high, wait times may be longer.
  • 3D Prints can be retrieved during lab hours or by appointment only. If an appointment is missed, the appointment must be rescheduled.

Content that may not be printed includes, but is not limited to:

  • Content or objects that are prohibited by local, state, or federal law.
  • Content or objects that may be construed as having intent to harm.
  • Content or objects that are unsafe, harmful, dangerous, or pose immediate threat to the well-being of others.
  • Content or objects that are harmful to minors.
  • Content or objects that are obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the library environment.
  • Content or objects that may infringe upon the intellectual property right of another, such as material that is subject to copyright, patent, or trademark protection.
  • The Library reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request.

Procedures

  • Files must be submitted in STL format.
  • The maximum dimensions for a print are 8.8" x 8.8" x 8.1".
