Peggy Scott Laborde:

CHRISTMAS IN NEW ORLEANS

Wednesday, December 2 at 7PM

There’s no place like New Orleans, dawlin’. From the magnificent oaks to Mardi Gras, the reveillion dinners and everyday revelries, the Crescent City is chock-a-block with its own unique flavors. Discussing her book CHRISTMAS IN NEW ORLEANS, the author celebrates the landmarks and traditions that make New Orleans one in a million.

Peggy Scott Laborde is the producer and host of Steppin’ Out on WYES-TV. Since earning a B.A. in political science from UNO, Laborde has produced a number of documentaries based on the city she calls home. Her professional accomplishments have earned her awards from the Press Club of New Orleans, Public Relations Society of America, and American Women in Radio and Television. She has garnered praise for her extensive efforts in conserving the arts and history of New Orleans.

Kit Wohl: NEW ORLEANS CLASSIC GUMBOS AND SOUPS

Tuesday, December 8 at 7PM

In a city where elegance brushes elbows with ease and different cultural groups mix without losing their individual flavors, it’s no surprise that gumbo enjoys widespread celebrity. This quintessential New Orleans dish, along with soups and bisques, is presented as never before in this beautiful cookbook from culinary aficionado Kit Wohl. Recipes each incorporate an anecdote, bit of history, or fond memory from the contributor about the dish.

NEW ORLEANS CLASSIC GUMBOS AND SOUPS is Ms. Wohl’s fourth book in the Classic Recipes Series, which includes NEW ORLEANS CLASSIC DESSERTS, NEW ORLEANS CLASSIC SEAFOOD, and NEW ORLEANS CLASSIC APPETIZERS.
